Finishes

Finishes

At Caroma, we are using the best technology to create lasting colour finishes so you can express your style in your bathroom.

PVD

PVD

PVD stands for “Physical Vapor Deposition”, a coating technique used to deposit a thin film (a few microns thick) on the surface of bathroom products such as tapware, showers and accessories, to provide superior durability and resistance to abrasions, scratches and corrosion.

It is a vacuum deposition ionic energy process that provides a uniform deposit, strong adhesion and avoids the large edge build-ups that are common with electroplated coatings. This technique is environmentally friendly, as the process does not create any of the hazardous waste or toxic fumes.

Caroma PVD creates brilliant decorative metallic finishes that are durable with excellent wear. Its fine, even application is not only strong but also allows the beauty of the machined finish to shine through. It is an extremely durable and a tough wearing coating that will stay on the product and last for longer.

Due to the complexities involved in this process and the natural variations in the base materials, subtle variations in finishes are expected. Additional factors such as brush direction, installation position and even ambient lighting can also affect the visible appearance of the finished product.

We have three radiant finishes in PVD – brushed brass, brushed nickel and gunmetal – that you can find in the new collection Urbane II and Liano II. The warranty for PVD finishes is 5 years.

Electroplated/ Electrostatic

Electroplated/ Electrostatic

Electroplating is a process where the finish is plated to another metal layer, providing a much more durable finish compared to powder coated finish. The tapware body typically cleaned thoroughly to remove all impurities before a nickel layer is applied. The plating process then creates the coloured finish to the product while reducing the risk of corrosion to its surfaces. It is a very popular finish due to the versatility in colour finishes available.

Caroma offers satin black, brushed brass and brushed nickel electroplated finishes in the Luna range as well as a matte black electroplated finish in the Urbane II range.

The black finish in our Urbane, Liano and Cosmo range is electrostatic coating. A quality hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint and proven to be humidity, corrosion and UV resistant.

The warranty for these finishes is 1 year. Due to the complexities involved in this process and the natural variations in the base materials, subtle variations in finishes are expected.

Liano II Basins Matte Glaze

Liano II Basins Matte Glaze

The Liano II Basin Collection comes in range of new matte glaze colour options that are fired directly to the basin ensuring a non-porous and extremely durable finish that will not fade, deteriorate, or require additional sealing over the life of the basin.

Due to manufacturing process of fine fire clay and the extreme temperatures the basins undergo during the firing process, it is normal to expect some slight colour variation across each piece.

There are 6 stylish glaze options to choose from – Matte White, Matte Black, Matte Pink, Matte Grey and Matte Speckle – that you can find in the new Liano II Basin Collection. These new finishes will be included in our standard warranties*.
