Carly & Leighton

We started our journey together several years earlier than our successful time on House Rules in 2013. House Rules really cemented our passion for design and creativity together as a duo.

We are keen and enthusiastic renovators. We love creating new and exciting spaces, using different textures, styles, new products and natural products. The building industry is forever evolving quicker and more exciting than ever before. We try to incorporate new products into our designs.

We are not shy of hard work and will roll up our sleeves and get down and dirty to pull off our designs. We don't stop until the job is done to perfection.

We spend our downtime on the River Murray region in the outdoors soaking up the natural landscapes and all that nature has to give.

Getting to know Carly & Leighton

Q: What are your favourite product/s used in your Caroma capsule and why did you choose them?

The Contura Bath - I love its shape. And there is just something about freestanding baths that simply screams relaxation and luxury in a bathroom. Whenever someone walks into a bathroom with a freestanding bath... more than likely the first thing they say is... wow!!

Q: Describe your approach to design?

Open minded - so many things can change along the way. But we do like to stick with mixing up different textures instead of colours. We use textures to create depth instead. Our approach to the capsule design was a look that we have chosen for our own home. We thought it very fitting to a light filled showroom as our concept is quite dark and earthy.

Q: What inspires you in your design and how do you come up with your ideas?

We pull inspiration from absolutely everywhere whether it be magazines, internet, television, our surrounds... Places we visit, including cafes, pubs, hotels, everywhere we go we are looking at design and products used in different concepts.

Q: What is the biggest single influence on your creative thinking?

Social Media... Instagram for me... The quickest, easiest and most enjoyable way to keep up with latest trends and ideas.

Q: What is your strongest skill?

I put an idea forward to Leighton usually via picture I've seen, explain to Leighton what it is like from that picture and he works out a way to use or adapt what I like in our design. It's a great partnership. So, I would say our strongest skill is his ability to build and finish any of our ideas.

Q: What are you currently fascinated by and how is it feeding into your work?

Natural Finishes - and at the moment what you can do with concrete based products

Q: What are you passionate about besides your work?

Getting away - work hard play hard - adventure trips to the Murray River
