What are your favorite product/s used in your Caroma capsule and why did you choose them?
I love a black and white palette with interchangable pops of colour, I chose the moon basin in (black or white) as i love the smooth, matte finish and being a freestanding basin wanted it to be the hero piece of the bathroom. I also chose black tapware and accessories as I feel this adds a timeless yet contemporary finish to a bathroom space.
Describe your approach to design?
Colour plays in integral part in the element of design. My style changes as per my mood swings hence why I try and stick to a neutral palette (such as black and white) and then can add/subtract colour with ease. I also love adding tactile elements that add a haptic experience.
What inspires you in your design and how do you come up with your ideas?
I am inspired by the people I interact with especially my children, it is an incredible experience watching them grow and mould into the adult they are becoming, how the react and interact with elements and how quickly things can change. My ideas are based on emotions, words and interactions which then transforms into colour, graphics and design.
What is the biggest single influence on your creative thinking?
Emotion - having a sense of empathy enables you to express those feelings into creative formats.
What is your strongest skill?
To really listen - to listen without judgement or to give advice - just to be present.
What are you currently fascinated by and how is it feeding into your work?
I am fascinated by artists of all formats whether it be dance, song, music, illustration - artists are naturally emotive people so watching their art reveals a part of them that exposes them to the outside world in an unapologetic format.
What are you passionate about besides your work?
I am passionate about developing artists - they are often underpaid, under represented and under valued. Creative thinking is often not seen as skill. I would like to see a world where we are happy to pay the same amount for artist as we would for a lawyer. I know the amount of dedication and hours that are allocated to perfect the technique in dance yet they are often the most undervalued artist in the performing arts world - how do we give them the recognition and value they deserve?
