"The
average Australian family can save up to 87,000 litres of water per annum
by switching to Caroma Nordic mixers throughout the house" "Econo-flow" is featured in the popular Caroma single lever mixer ranges Nordic, Opus and Skandic.
Caroma's European partner AB Gustavsberg commissioned an independent authority in Sweden "Energy Technology" to quantify potential savings in water and energy as a result of installing Caroma Nordic mixers in place of conventional tap sets. The field tests took place in Gothenberg Sweden and were conducted in a block of 65 flats. The flats varied between one and six rooms, with the majority (75%) being two or three room flats. The average household size was 1.8 persons. The field tests took place over the period January to August 2000. Measurement data was excluded for the Easter period due to the number of tenants on holidays over this period. The tests were conducted in several stages. In the first stage water flow was measured with conventional tap sets installed. In the second stage the conventional tap sets were replaced with Nordic mixers in the sink and basin and Nordic thermostatic mixers in the shower/bath. In the second stage the "Econo-flow" feature was removed and the water flow was monitored. This resulted in water savings of 72,000 litres/household per annum. In the third stage the Nordic basin and sink mixers were adjusted to include the "Econo-flow" effect described above. Under these conditions water saved was 112,000 litres/household per annum. |
