caroma | Design for life   -   Ty and Amy Renovate Their Bathroom

    Issued Date: 10/02/2011

Ty, Amy and Roxy, their British Bulldog recently moved into their new home in the suburbs of Sydney.

We follow their story as they completely transform their bathroom into a modern and contemporary room in their home.

“The bathroom needed a lot of work, we needed space, life and light brought back into it” Ty said.

    Tiles

“We did our research and shopped around, we really liked larger tiles, and were told these would open up the space in such a small bathroom. We are really pleased with the results” Amy added

“We opted for more neutral colours as the backdrop for the bathroom, you can’t go wrong with white, and the spatial expanse created with the clean, bright tiles is just what we needed”

    •    Walls - 600 x 300 white rectified tile
    •    Floor – Quantum Quartz Engineered stone in Tornado Grey

    Fittings

“All the existing fittings had to go, we knew what styles we had in mind, we visited the Home Ideas Centre in Alexandria with our builder and from the extensive displays we were able to select a combination of products that matched our taste”

Toilet – “I felt a good quality toilet was worth the investment, we wanted it to last a lifetime, so went with a design that wouldn’t age with fashion trends” Ty commented

    •    Caroma Cube Wall Faced Toilet Suite

Shower and Bath – “Shower pressure was always top of mind, the rail shower we chose gave us flexibility and fit well with the bath/shower combination”

    •    Dorf Rail Shower with Overhead
    •    Stylus Newbury 1800 bath (with four tile flange)

    Basin & Vanity –
“The vanity had to be big enough to be functional,
but also small enough not to take over the bathroom”

    •    Caroma Cube Inset Vanity Basin

    •    Inset into a custom built vanity with a Caesar Stone Vanity Top (Colour: Ice Snow)

Tapware – “We really liked the look of three piece tapware through out the bathroom, we consulted our builder on what types to choose, we wanted quality, design inspired pieces” Amy said

    •    Dorf Kytin Wall Basin Set
    •    Dorf Kytin Bath Set
    •    Dorf Kytin Wall Top Assemblies

Accessories “We needed rectangular styled accessories to match the sharp lines of the other fittings in the bathroom”

    •    Dorf Motif Toilet Roll Holder
    •    Dorf Motif Soap Dish
    •    Dorf Motif 700mm Towel Rail

    Lighting

“We told our builder we wanted the bathroom to be as bright as possible, with such a small space we felt a combination of light and bright fixtures would really open up the space”

    •    Strip light above vanity
    •    4 x Square downlights
    •    Clipsal Satin range of light switches

    Mirror

“The mirror was recommended to us by our builder, frameless bevelled edge mirrors are a classic look” Amy said

    •    1000mm x 750mm bevelled edge mirror

    Window Covering

“With the afternoon sun setting on this side of the house, we wanted the option to block out as much heat as possible or open it up in the morning to get the natural light in, plantation shutters were the obvious choice”

    •    Aluminium plantation shutters in white
